So, Just moved here 12 months ago and Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,759 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thanks for reading. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Charlotte it's tough.

I work in legal here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great BBQ places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 51, moved here 8 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Uptown and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. decent vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
