Best neighborhoods in Montclair

OK so Thoughts? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is improving in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Eastside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I work in construction here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is pretty good. Good luck with whatever you decide..
