Job market in Montclair for tech?
Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $561,700, which is pretty steep.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 12 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Came here for family and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.
