Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $77,605, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been here 8 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
