Remote worker thinking about Monterey Park

Hey folks, I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $77,605 in Monterey Park. You can expect to pay around $1,845 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 13 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great BBQ places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
