Hi all, We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 10.7%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Monterey Park sits at 208.5 per 100K. Household incomes average around $77,605 in Monterey Park. You can expect to pay around $1,845 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 1 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Dallas about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much competitive but now it's average.
