The median home value here is around $393,700, which seems about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Phoenix it's better than expected.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much competitive but now it's excellent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Old Town) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Sunset area are tough. Kids love it here.

Moved here from Seattle about 1 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to safety but Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..
