Housing in Montgomery compared to Dallas

Curious what people think. I'm a 22-year-old mechanic and Crime rate is something to consider -Montgomery sits at 150.6 per 100K. Median household income is $96,985, which feels pretty solid for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Montgomery?
