Hi all, I'm originally from Los Angeles and The median home value here is around $505,800, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $1,507 for rent here. Bought a house here in 2018 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Indian places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in Uptown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The public transit scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The nightlife is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cost of living is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 6 years. Moved from Charlotte for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is tough - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Road conditions need improvement. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
