Unpopular opinion about Montgomery

Longtime lurker here, With a population of 10,816, Montgomery is a small town. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $505,800 on average. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- High property taxes
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Phoenix about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is average.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.
