Moving to Montgomery Village with kids -good idea?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Homes are going for about $367,100 on average. Rent is about $1,883/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is challenging in most areas.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The safety is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from New York about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in West for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 1 years. Moved from Nashville for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is average - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Can feel isolated. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
