OK so I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Montgomeryville sits at 188.6 per 100K. Household incomes average around $130,769 in Montgomeryville. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Indian places. it exceeded my expectations.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely decent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Riverside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a social worker and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
