Housing in Montgomeryville compared to New York

Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,943 for rent here. With a population of 13,572, Montgomeryville is a small town. Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Montgomeryville sits at 188.6 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2019 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 9 years. Moved from San Diego for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Bugs and humidity in summer. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.
