OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Francisco about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
