So, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $298,400, which seems about average. With a population of 14,607, Monticello is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Eastside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a electrician and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
