Commute times in Montpelier -how bad?

Alright, Median household income is $79,175, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 8,038 people. With a population of 8,038, Montpelier is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Fairview) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

No regrets on my end..
