Curious what people think. I work in energy and Household incomes average around $44,625 in Montrose. Crime rate is something to consider -Montrose sits at 85.8 per 100K. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $109,700 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely average and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
