First time home buyer in Montvale

Hey, Crime rate is something to consider -Montvale sits at 11.6 per 100K. Rent is about $2,241/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts?

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is solid in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Seattle about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
