Is Monument getting better or worse?

Hi all, I work in government and Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 11,035, Monument is a small town. The median home value here is around $586,400, which is pretty steep. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Low crime in most areas
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Poor road conditions
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I work in manufacturing here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The walkability is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
