The village is located 150 km north-east of the capital city Gaborone, and it has primary and secondary schools, namely, Mookane Primary School and Mookane Community Junior Secondary School, and a health clinic. The following wards can be found in Mookane; Borotsi, Letswere, Mosanta and Tshipana. Mookane village is surrounded by the villages of Dibete, Mmaphashalala and Phala Road. The population was 3,283 in 2011 census.
