Hey, The median home value here is around $108,000, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 2,170 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? TIA!

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Vietnamese places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've been here 14 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
