Is it worth buying in Moore?

Hey everyone, The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Any advice would be great.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 33, moved here 6 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Eastside and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Limited shopping options
3. The walkability situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Tampa it's average.
