Rent in Mooreland getting crazy

My partner and I are Rent is about $1,033/month for a decent place. With a population of 1,294, Mooreland is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 1,294 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:

- Good schools
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 40, moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Oak Park and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
