Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $246,300 on average. Median household income is $69,371, which feels about average for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 44,706 people. Rent is about $1,017/month for a decent place. With a population of 44,706, Moorhead is a smaller city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Hope this helps!.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Cedar Grove for 5 years. Moved from San Diego for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is tough - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Homeless population growing downtown. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
