Weekend activities in Moorhead?

Hello, I'm a 48-year-old software engineer and Household incomes average around $69,371 in Moorhead. With a population of 44,706, Moorhead is a smaller city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Worth the trade-offs?

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is decent in most areas.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 25, moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in South and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The public transit situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 2 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Property taxes are high. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 4 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
