Should I move to Morehead or stay in Sacramento?

Hi all, Median household income is $35,000, which feels on the lower side for the area. The median home value here is around $176,300, which is actually reasonable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Should I be concerned? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Portland it's hit or miss.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The public transit is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much manageable but now it's better than expected.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Denver about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 4 years. Moved from Dallas for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Property taxes are high. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
