OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 37, moved here 10 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Midtown and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Property taxes are high
3. The job market situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to San Diego it's excellent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
