Is Moreno Valley worth moving to in 2026?

Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 210K, Moreno Valley is a mid-size city. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 14 years. Moved from Denver for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Chain restaurants dominate. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 8 years. Moved from Portland for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Bugs and humidity in summer. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much established but now it's decent.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is decent in most areas.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The community vibe is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Uptown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 54, moved here 7 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Property taxes are high
3. The public transit situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Uptown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..
