Living in Moreno Valley — the reality

Random thought, We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $461,400 on average. The median home value here is around $461,400, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 28, moved here 11 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Uptown and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The walkability situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in North for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The cost of living scene is improving

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
