Best industries in Morgantown right now

I work in insurance and You can expect to pay around $888 for rent here. Household incomes average around $42,245 in Morgantown. The median home value here is around $238,200, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 39, moved here 15 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The outdoor recreation situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
