Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 5 years and Household incomes average around $42,245 in Morgantown. The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Charlotte it's solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 3 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is average
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
