Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 16 months ago and With a population of 14,775, Morris is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Morris? Any help is appreciated. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 5 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..
