Is Morris walkable?

With a population of 14,775, Morris is a small town. Poverty rate is 5.9%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Morris? Thanks in advance!

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Westside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 14 years. Moved from Miami for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is average - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Chain restaurants dominate. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
