Hey everyone, The median home value here is around $185,200, which is actually reasonable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective. Appreciate any input. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
