Been living here since 2011. Poverty rate is 8.1%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is decent in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much manageable but now it's decent.
