Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $2,171 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is decent in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Came here for school and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The weather is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much manageable but now it's excellent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
