Rent in Morristown getting crazy

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Morristown sits at 848.8 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 4.4%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $155,700 on average. Median household income is $44,811, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Eastside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- The cost of living scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..
