Best neighborhoods to rent in Morton Grove?

Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $377,000 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Sunset) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Downtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (East) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 14 years. Moved from Dallas for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Limited entertainment options. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Diego it's surprisingly good.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Sunset) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
