I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 16,503 people. Homes are going for about $238,900 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Definitely worth checking out..

Background: I'm a HR manager, 32, moved here 14 years ago from LA. I've lived in Fairview and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Property taxes are high
3. The nightlife situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
