Raising a family in Moss Point -thoughts?

Hey folks, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Moss Point sits at 531.2 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much growing but now it's pretty good.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
