Commute times in Moultrie -how bad?

Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are Homes are going for about $155,900 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Moultrie sits at 496.9 per 100K. With a population of 14,545, Moultrie is a small town. Median household income is $42,900, which feels on the lower side for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks! The suburbs are where most families end up. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Midtown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Pittsburgh it's improving.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
