Moving to Mound for work -advice?

Hi all, I'm originally from Seattle and Rent is about $1,119/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 45--F, so bundle up in winter. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Mound sits at 21.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $348,600, which seems about average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
