Housing market in Mount Airy right now

Hey folks, Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $474,800 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Nashville it's pretty good.
