Anyone regret moving to Mount Airy?

Hi all, Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $699 for rent here. With a population of 10,631, Mount Airy is a small town. Poverty rate is 24.4%, which is higher than I expected. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much affordable but now it's underrated.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
