I've been here for 3 years and Rent is about $1,500/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $69,931 in Mount Dora. Median household income is $69,931, which feels about average for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. What do you all think? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
