Does this match your experience? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The dating scene is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Moved here from Minneapolis about 1 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to cost of living but No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 11 years. Moved from LA for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is tough - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a accountant and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 11 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The cultural scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Baltimore about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in South for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The traffic scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
