Hey everyone, Just moved here 12 months ago and With a population of 8,310, Mount Joy is a small town. Homes are going for about $241,300 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Springfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to LA it's tough.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great BBQ places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
