I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -Mount Pleasant sits at 189.6 per 100K. Poverty rate is 19.9%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $870/month for a decent place. Median household income is $39,924, which feels on the lower side for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.
