Is Mount Pleasant good for remote workers?

Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and Rent is about $2,026/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 1 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely underrated and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for school and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cost of living is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 14 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in West for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The community vibe scene is average

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Midtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
- The food scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..
