Mount Prospect job market vs San Diego

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Homes are going for about $377,000 on average. The median home value here is around $377,000, which seems about average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. Thanks! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for school and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The nightlife is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Miami about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to New York it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
